Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971 as the replacement of Ferrari’s 365 GTC, the 365 GTC/4 swapped its predecessors curvaceous styling with more angular and aggressive designs similar to those of its two-seater sibling, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The major difference between the 365 GTC/4 and the Daytona of course was the 365 GTC/4’s rear seats, adding a dash of practicality to an otherwise exciting platform. Ferrari stretched the chassis by 100 millimeters to allow for extra cabin space and also outfitted the car with ZF power steering and power brakes, making for a very comfortable grand tourer. Only 500 examples were built over an 18-month period, making it much rarer than both its predecessor and the Daytona.

Delivered new to the United States through Chinetti-Garthwaite Motors of Paoli, Pennsylvania, chassis number 15211 was sold new later that year to its first owner. By the 1980s, the car had been purchased by an individual in California, where it remained until 1987. At that time, it was purchased by Ed Freis of Las Vegas, Nevada. After leaving Freis’ ownership, the car was then exported to Switzerland.
During its time in Switzerland, it was fully restored by marque specialist Bruno Wyess with absolutely no expenses spared, allegedly costing in excess of 262,000 Swiss Francs at the time. Following the restoration, the car returned to the United States where it has remained ever since. Purchased by its current owner in January of 2013, the car remains in exemplary condition, having been well maintained and driven sparingly since its restoration. The car also includes a proper set of books and tool kit with a jack. Furthermore, it was shown at the 2014 Santa Fe Concorso, where it was awarded First in Class honors. Furthermore, it is important to note that a new exhaust system was recently fitted.

Boasting the soul of a Daytona with added practicality, the 365 GTC/4 is well regarded as an excellent Ferrari for the entire family and one that is sure to see increased interest in the future. This particular example boasts a well-preserved restoration, as proven by its First in Class win just two years ago.
