Facel Vega Facel II 1963 |
Built by one of France’s most famous manufacturers of high-speed grand tourers in the Jet Age, the Facel II continued the marque’s tradition of American performance coupled with French high style. Powered by a 355-horsepower Chrysler V-8, the four-passenger Facel II could sprint from 0–60 mph in 7.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 134 mph while carrying its passengers in Rolls-Royce-like comfort. This intoxicating experience made the Facel II one of the most desirable cars of early 1960s society. About 180 were made between 1962 and 1964.

The Facel II shown here, chassis number HK2 B 171, was the factory show car at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. It was sold off the show stand to its original owner, an elegant European socialite who, as her son now recalls, had to wait until the show was over in order to collect it from the stand. At that point, it was quite literally driven out of the building by its eager new owner and has remained in her family since.
Well preserved in original condition, much as it appeared in 1963, the Facel II has a wonderful patina about its metallic blue finish, which is still highly presentable. The tan leather interior is stunning and in wonderful overall condition, with little to no actual signs of wear or use visible throughout.
