| Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet 2003 |
The classic Volkswagen Beetle is probably one of the most recognised cars in the world; however, in 1994, Volkswagen produced a design to bring the Beetle into the modern era. A retro themed concept was first shown at the North American Auto Show in 1994 and a further developed car appeared at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995. The concept was so well received that Volkswagen developed the car for production and released the car in 1997 based on the Volkswagen Golf platform.
