Mazda MX-5 1998 |
The MX-5 was introduced in 1989 at the Chicago Motor Show. It was conceived as a small roadster with lightweight and minimal mechanical complexity, limited only by legal and safety requirements; technologically modern, but a philosophically direct descendant of small British and Italian roadsters of the 1960's such as the Triumph Spitfire, MGB and Alfa Romeo Spider. The second generation MX-5 was launched in 1998 and continues to be the best-selling two-seat convertible sports car in history.
