Had World War 2 not intervened, Lanchester would have launched the LD10 in 1940. In the event, it was postponed until 1946. Vaguely American from the front thanks to its prominent cascading front grille, the 10 was quite clever underneath where coil-sprung independent front suspension meant a compliant ride and well-behaved handling. extra versatility. The all-steel bodies were manufactured by Briggs up to 1951 when the latter was acquired by Ford, whereupon Barker undertook the provision of coachbuilt bodies panelled in aluminium. Production ceased in 1951, by which time a little over 3,000 LD10s had been built.
